Abstract

An overview of our experimental investigations on the nonlinear dynamical behaviour of a dripping faucet is presented. The state space of the system is reconstructed using time-delay plots. The system shows a complex behaviour as the parameter control, the dripping rate, is varied, going from simple periodic to fully chaotic. In this regime different types of strange attractors appear. Our experimental results show novel features which are discussed in relation with results reported by other authors.
