Abstract
In this paper, a new converter topology with a high voltage conversion ratio for non-isolated small power LED drivers is proposed. Conventional converter topologies have limitations such as a large switch turn off loss because of a large turn off current or low power density due to many number of snubber components. The proposed converter utilizes the rectifier diodes and the output capacitors as the snubber components, so it does not require any snubber components. Also, the proposed converter has a small switch turn off loss due to a resonant operation. Furthermore, since the snubber path consists of series-connected output capacitors, the current balancing capability is still preserved for two-channel LED driver. The effectiveness of the proposed driver is validated with 11.55W prototype.
