Abstract

This article deals with a new single-phase single-stage quadratic switched-boost inverter with high step-up voltage inversion capability. The proposed inverter maintains the merits of the traditional quasi-switched-boost inverters such as: 1) continuous input current; 2) shoot-through immunity; 3) the ability of suppressing the inrush current at start-up. Furthermore, it features higher modulation index to improve the output voltage quality, and lower current stresses across inductors, switches and diodes than those of the other traditional qZSIs with less number of active and passive elements are employed. The theoretical analysis of proposed topology is explained, including the steady-state working principle, parameters design guideline, power loss analysis, and performance comparison with other boost inverters. Finally, the aforementioned merits of the proposed topology are verified by both simulation and experimental results.
