Abstract

Nowadays DC micro grids are becoming more common in rural and urban areas.The use of photo-voltaic cells made this possible.But the output of solar PV is very low,hence converters with maximum efficiency and high gain is needed.But conventional DC-DC boost converters are unable to provide high step up voltage gain.And also the converters with voltage multiplier cells are in use but, which makes the circuit complex. Here,a closed loop control with MPPT strategy is proposed for a non-isolated high gain DC-DC converter for renewable energy source with solar energy as the input. Soft-Switching is achieved by ZVS topology.Maximum power is tracked using MPPT algorithm. The high gain converter for 20W, 17/170 V simulation circuit is designed and the performance is validated using MATLAB SIMULINK.
