Abstract

A sequential three-body reaction model is shown to explain the factorization of cross-section employed in describing the observed angular correlations between highly energetic light particles and outgoing heavy reaction products in heavy-ion collisions. In particular, the characteristic forward-peaked component exhibited in the angular correlations is explained in terms of emission of fast light particles from a «l-window» and it is shown that different angular correlations are expected if positive and negative quantal deflection angles are involved.
