Abstract
While obtaining a solution to the wheel–rail contact problem, a series of hypotheses are made in order to obtain a quick solution. However, some of these hypotheses are not admissible when solving certain problems. Among these simplifications can be included the assumption of a constant friction coefficient and of a stationary state contact. In order to overcome these limitations, a new algorithm that takes into account the transient effects and a falling friction coefficient is proposed in this work. This algorithm is based on FastSim, which has the best computational cost/precision ratio.
