Abstract

Non-linear in-plane vibration of an elastic inextensional ring under non-uniform rotating load is studied. For a static non-uniform pressure p cos 2 ϑ it is shown that critical load is about 3 times higher than for the uniform one. At the critical load the ring has three possible elliptical configurations: stable continuation of the initial state and two states (one stable and one unstable) not adjacent to the initial path and emanating from a bifurcation point.
