Abstract
Composite thin films of vanadyl naphthalocyanine and tin naphthalocyanine were prepared by the novel mixed and stacked vacuum deposition techniques. Crystalline peaks corresponding to both vanadyl naphthalocyanine and tin naphthalocyanine were detected and nanocrystals of sizes ranging from 2 to 5nm were observed in the film structure. The stacked deposited thin film showed a broad Q band absorption in the near infrared region (700–950nm) compared to the mixed deposited film. Open aperture Z-scan measurements revealed a saturable absorption behavior for both films and the saturation intensity, Isat, was calculated for each sample.
