Abstract

In Chap. 4.1, we describe the experiments on lower hybrid current drive including fast wave current drive. First, a short review of linear propagation characteristics of the lower hybrid wave is presented. Second, the RF system including the launcher and its RF coupling characteristics with plasma is explained. Third, typical experiments such as flat-top, current start-up and ramp-up discharges, OH transformer recharging, and 'fourth, fast wave experiments, are described. Fifth, present status and prospects of the lower hybrid current drive are discussed in light of application to first-generation D-T tokamak reactors such as ITER. Finally, recent experimental efforts are summarized briefly.
