Abstract

The joint probability distribution of the spatial velocity increment and its spatial derivatives is modelled analytically for homogeneous turbulent flow. For the steady helical case, one finds the possibility of a noise-induced transition. For the unsteady case, assuming weak interaction between separated length scales, soliton behavior in k-space may be obtained.
