Abstract

1H and13C NMR spectra of a series of coumarin dyes used as active laser media are studied. Electron densities and ring currents are calculated. Formulas for calculating13C NMR chemical shifts from quantum mechanical data for aminocoumarins are suggested. NMR data and electronic structure calculations are used to explain the generation properties of coumarins.
