Abstract

We write with reference to your editorial in the October 2010 edition of Learning Disability Practice, on the new Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards for Pre-Registration Nursing, in which you state, ‘...the decision to stop universities running joint nursing and social work courses will be lamented in some quarters, but the NMC wants students to spend the entire three years of study it takes to obtain a degree in nursing learning about nursing...’ We would like to share with readers some facts about the dual award programmes that are currently running in England.
