Abstract

Summary The equilibrium constant, K, for association of 2,2,5,5-tetramethylpyrrolidine-1-oxyl and β-cyclodextrin has been measured by monitoring by EPR spectroscopy the kinetics of the reduction of nitroxide by the ascorbate anion in the presence of varying concentrations of β-cyclodextrin in phosphate buffered solutions. The values found for K by kinetics are in satisfactory agreement with the values obtained by analysis (spectral simulation) of the high field line of the EPR spectrum under static conditions.
