Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of discoveries and mistakes in the fi eld of civilizational approach to the development of mankind of the Russian scientist-organicist N. Yа. Danilevsky. The author notes a number of breakthrough ideas of the sientist, as well as his misconceptions. Particular attention in the article is paid to the potential of N. Ya. Danilevsky's ideas for the development of new, unifying ideological component in Russia, which could be used to mitigate the divisions in society, which in turn will become a reliable foundation for socio-political development
