Abstract

The results reported form part of an investigation of the constitution of nickel-rich alloys of the ternary systems Ni-Al-X, where X is one of the refractory metal elements. The approach involves the determination of isothermal sections using electron microprobe analysis as the principal experimental technique. In systems where previously published data on isothermal sections are available, electron microprobe analysis of a few selected alloys from two-phase and three-phase regions provides useful additional information on the location of phase boundaries. The present investigation is concerned with the Ni-Al-Nb system in the range ∼ 100–60 at.-%Ni.
