Abstract

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious condition that can be easily prevented. Early detection of AKI is important in order to prevent potentially fatal complications from occurring, and healthcare assistants can play a vital role with this. In order to improve awareness of AKI, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has developed an e-learning tool together with the Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education. This article discusses AKI, and how the e-learning tool can help healthcare assistants improve the care of patients with the condition.
