Abstract
ABSTRACT Over the past two decades, the interest in journalistic translation and, more specifically, news translation has produced an important bulk of publications. Although most of this research has originated within translation studies, scholars have conducted interdisciplinary studies drawing on concepts and theoretical frameworks from neighbouring disciplines such as sociology, communication and journalism, discourse analysis and images studies. The interdisciplinary nature of most of this research has highlighted the importance of academic dialogue across disciplines, as exemplified by the work of scholars who have brought to the fore the crucial role played by translation in news production, including those that have contributed to this special issue.
