Abstract

In map production a relatively large part of the total expenses are spent for the field survey. Contrary to photogrammetric procedures field surveys could hardly utilize the modern achievements of automation directly. This will be changed by the new Zeiss surveying instruments. The Zeiss RegElta 14 measures a distance automatically, reads this distance, the horizontal direction, and the vertical angle, and records these data together with identifying numbers on a tape. This creates a direct link between field survey and computer.
