Abstract
A VUV Sun Spectrometer designed at Leningrad State University implements a new concept of collisional photoionization spectroscopy (CPS). While in the spectrometers of known type collisions between photoelectrons and atoms of the gas filling the internal volume of the spectrometer cause deteriorization of instrumental characteristics, the CPS-method for the first time makes use of the collision to improve sensitivity by 2 to 3 orders of magnitude.
