Abstract

Following several months of intense preparation, the first issue of Trends in Molecular Medicine (formerly Molecular Medicine Today1To understand what the name change means in terms of impact factor, please see Mol. Med. Today Oct. issue 2000, p.375.1) lies in front of you. The change of name is accompanied by a new layout and design, new journal sections, new article names and new article types. The new journal name strengthens its association with the Trends journals stable, which represents 25 years of cutting-edge scientific review publications. The aim of the new design is to improve the navigation of the journal (both in print and online) — to help you, the reader, find what you want at a glance. To this end, Trends in Molecular Medicine has been divided in five sections: Research Update, News and Comment, Opinion, Review and Forum. We have also taken the opportunity to re-think some of the article names and we have updated a few of them. News articles are now called Research News, and Literature has become Journal Club. Disease models will now appear within the Review section to emphasize their review-style content and depth. Below you will find a list of which article types fit in which section.
