Abstract
The phases with different structures formed in the series REE2Ti x Zr2−x O7 (x = 0–2) are considered as potential high-level waste (HLW) forms. Matrices were synthesized by cold pressing and sintering. The ceramics were studied by XRD, SEM/EDS, TEM, XAFS. The sample based on monoclinic REE2Ti2O7 was irradiated by Kr2+ (1 MeV). The appearance of the additional monoclinic compound to pyrochlore is observed in the samples at x > 0.8. The monoclinic REE2Ti2O7 is characterized by high isomorphic capacity with respect to REEs. Its radiation resistance is close to Ti-pyrochlores. Monoclinic REE titanate requires further examination as potential host phase for HLW immobilization.
