Abstract

AbstractNew tertiary phosphine oxides containing furan and tetrahydrofuran rings or halogenated phenoxy groups are prepared via the Williamson reaction. The compounds were investigated as flame retardants for furan, epoxy, and unsaturated polyester resins. From dimethylchloromethylphosphine oxide via the Gabriel method dimethylaminomethylphosphine oxide was synthesized. Its adducts with ethylene and propylene oxide have been prepared. They were investigated as reactive flame retardants for rigid polyurethane foams.
