Abstract
Summary This paper aims to give the results of the revision of three works on the nomenclature of the families of Pteridophyta I published in 1970, 1981 and 1982. First some details on the manner and date of publication are given for the latter two papers. The family names taken into consideration amount to 26. The author's name and the pertinent bibliographical citation which I consider correct, followed by a comment with data on various subjects are given for each family name. The family names Athyriaceae, Cheilanthaceae, Danaeaceae, Pilulariaceae, Pteridaceae and Selapnellaceae which were considered illegitimate in the list of the Subcommittee for Pteridophyta (PICHI SERMOLLI, 1981) are now legitimate on account of the change to Art. 63.3 introduced in the Code at the Sydney Congress of 1981. However, when Athyrium and Woodsia are assigned to a single family the correct name for it is Woodsiaceae.
