Abstract

When Miriam Delphin‐Rittmon, M.D., became the new director of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (see “At HHS: SAMHSA changes, and Mark Weber retiring,” ADAW, Aug. 9, https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.33159), Connecticut lost its single state authority (SSA); Nancy Navarretta is now the acting commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), making her the SSA with authority over the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment block grant. Deputy commissioner of the DMHAS from 2015–2021, Navarretta was responsible for project management and strategic planning, and managing initiatives, including practices supporting the state's opioid response efforts. She was a direct service mental health and addictions provider and administrator prior to joining the DMHAS. She is now a member of the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors.
