Abstract
This correspondence presents a new approach to fuzzy clustering, based on the concept of indistinguisability relation. This concept allows us to give a new definition of fuzzy r-cluster that extends Ruspini's definition [5]. Our definition is based on the new concept of indistinguishability relation [6] which includes, as particular cases the concepts of the similarity relation of Zadeh [10], the probabilistic relation of Menger [3], and the likeness relation of Ruspini [5].
