Abstract

Fintech has taken considerable importance for emerging countries. Electronic Money (“Dinero electronico”) was implemented in Ecuador as a governmental monopoly per the regulatory framework of the country. In the light of other experiences in other developing countries, a more suitable regulatory framework is proposed in this paper. This paper will analyze the most important characteristics of this Fintech project in Ecuador.
