III. de Vaucouleurs, G. ; de Vaucouleurs, A. ; Nieto, J. -L. Abstract Redshifts of 196 bright galaxies, and 2 QSOs are derived from 246 spectrograms obtained from 1972 to 1977 with the Galaxy meter's two-state image tube grism spectrograph attached at the Cassegrain focus of the McDonald Observatory Struve reflector. The reciprocal dispersion is 335 A/mm at H alpha and the wavelength range 4500-8000 A. The galaxy redshifts are in the range -28 to 22,600 km/sec, but few exceed 5,000 km/sec. The internal mean errors of the weighted mean velocities range from 22 to 140 km/sec. Comparisons with other systems of redshifts, particularly the RC2, 21-cm and Sandage systems, indicate a mean systematic error of -35 + or - 16 km/sec, but it is probably variable with V. The external mean error is 90 km/sec for velocities less than 5000 km/sec having a mean weight equal to 4.0.
