Abstract

Let q ≥ 4 be a prime power. This paper aims to construct new quantum Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) codes of length n = q2l+1 − 1. We first determine the maximum designed distance of Euclidean dual containing non-narrow-sense q -ary BCH codes of length n. Applying Steane construction to these codes, new non-narrow-sense primitive quantum BCH codes shall be obtained, whose parameters are determined and better than ones in the literature.
