Abstract
The authors look at a new reaction of the oxirane cycle with an ester, amide, carbodiimide and other polar groups containing heteroatoms in the chains of the corresponding polymers and model compounds. The possible mechanism of these reactions and their catalysis is discussed. Ways of modifying the corresponding linear polymers by epoxide oligomers are analysed. The properties of the polymers formed and the materials based on them are described.
