Abstract

In this paper, a new passive auxiliary circuit based boost converter is presented to provide soft-switching and zero input current ripple conditions. In this structure, the reverse recovery loss of the diode is minimized by turning off the diode under zero current switching (ZCS) condition. Besides, due to the effective performance of the auxiliary circuit, the switch turns off and on under zero voltage switching (ZVS) condition. Furthermore, the input current ripple has been minimized and this ripple is reduced nearly to zero. The performance of the proposed auxiliary circuit based boost converter has been investigated. The voltage gain, design procedure, efficiency analysis, and comparison results for the power converter are presented in the paper. Finally, simulation results are presented to validate the converter performance and its mathematical calculations.
