Lugger, P. M. ; York, D. G. ; Blanchard, T. ; Morton, D. C. Abstract New f-values for 18 resonance lines of N I are derived and upper limits are obtained for four additional lines, using interstellar absorption lines observed with the Copernicus satellite. The f-values for the 24 detected N I resonance lines, including six with laboratory f-values, range from 10-1 to 10-6 and offer a unique opportunity for determining accurate interstellar abundances. The f-values derived are for lines between 950 A and 965 A, and for two weak features near 1160 A. A preliminary study of column densities shows that interstellar N I varies little in abundance from star to star and is within a factor of 4 of the solar value.
