Abstract
The immobilization of-microbial cells has been done mainly with the polyacrylamide gel method. We first succeeded in the industrialization of this immobilized cell system for production of L-aspartic acid (1) and L-malic acid (2). For further improvement of immobilized cell systems, we have extensively investigated new immobilization techniques.
