Abstract

We report laser-excited fluorescence measurements of isotopic line shifts for the four strongest rotational transitions in each of the P and R branches of the CH (A←X) system. These observations are compared with early measurements for transitions further out in the R branch, with a recent measurement associated with MODR spectroscopy, and with calculations corrected for the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. The calculation fits the recent experimental data quite well, providing a coherent picture of line shifts arising from isotopic labeling. The early measurements appear to be inconsistent with this picture.
