Abstract

ABSTRACT This study expands the known distributional range and records of host plants for the semiaquatic weevil Amalactus carbonarius. Previously, it was recorded on three species of Cyperaceae in four states in Brazil (Mato Grosso, Pernambuco, Bahia, and Espírito Santo). This work adds a new record on the monocot Typha domingensis Pers. and presents an unpublished report of the weevil species from the Atlantic Forest in Rio de Janeiro, accompanied by a morphological redescription and illustrations of adult specimens.
