Abstract
For traditional local frequency measurement, random phasemodulation in a signal is indistinguishable from noise distortion. As aresult, short-term instability of precision generators is measured withappreciable errors. The global frequency of the analytic signal provides muchhigher precision and its measurement removes the noise influence.
