Abstract

In this paper the recent developments concerning new glass-forming systems and their applications are reviewed. More emphasis has been paid on three glass-forming systems; these are non-oxide glasses, ionic glasses and amorphous semiconductors, which have been applied in the field of electronics, optics and opto-electronics. Some recent experimental research results are presented and the prospective applications are also discussed.
