Abstract

The formulation for transient divergence of radiative heatflux is revisited in thepresent article, taking into account the transient effect. The proposed formulation is amore general formof the conventional divergence of radiative heat flux, which is valid in the both steady as well as transient radiative transfer phenomena. The transient radiative transfer equation, coupledwith the energy equation viamodified divergence of radiative heat flux, is solved using the finite volumemethod.A two-dimensionalmodel is presented to compare the effect ofmodified flux. It is observed that the conventional divergence of radiative heat flux underpredicts the temperature of the medium in the time scale where transient radiation effect is predominant.
