Abstract
The changeover of motor vehicles from liquid to gas fuel has required the organization of the production of a new type of lightweight gas cylinder at the Ii'ich Zhdanov Metallurgical Combine. The cylinder has a volume of 50 liters and is used at a pressure of 19.6 MPa. Cylinders 219 mm in diameter, 1700 mm in length, and 6.5 mm in wall thickness are made of steel 30KhMA. The mechanical properties needed to ensure adequate structural strength and reliability in service are achieved by quenching and tempering.
