Abstract

A new and simple electrolytic method, which eliminates surface damage, pitting and etching, for cutting and shaping various metallurgical test specimens is described. It substitutes an electrolyte-insulating liquid interface for the electrolyte-air interface of other electrolytic methods. Preparation of slices 0.5 mm thick and of tensile specimens are described and the advantages of electroshaping are demonstrated in the Appendix.
