Abstract
Canberra Semiconductor produces germanium and silicon solid state detectors for nuclear radiation. There exists an increasing demand from industrial and scientific customers to detect weaker gamma rays above the spectral background in a shorter measuring time. This has led germanium detector manufacturers to developments yielding lower detection limits and higher throughput rates. The new 2002 preamplifier has a shorter risetime yielding better timing resolutions and Gaussian timing peak shapes.
