Abstract

Abstract This paper posits the existence of a crisis in both social work education and social work service provision. It offers a brief history of social work development, and some suggestions as to what the crises are, and how they might be resolved. The suggestions are towards a closer integration of theory and practice, possibly by merging teaching and service functions.
