Abstract

Argon-filled-target implosions on the OMEGA laser system were analyzed and compared to code predictions. For the case of high-pressure argon the diagnostic signatures used were absorption lines of Ar16+ transitions as well as of lower ionizations (shifted Kα lines). The measurements indicate deviations from predictions, which are attributed to a cooler than predicted core.
