Abstract

Basic principles and conditions for raising efficiency of the radiation method applied for sewage cleaning are presented. The problem is to overcome slow decomposition of pollutants on the final part of the kinetic curve. The best solution is to eliminate the inhibiting action of intermediate radiolysis products by a combined use of radiation and electrodialysis, UV-light, ozone and radiolysis of the pollutants in a gaseous phase upon their constant concentration. Various possibilities of increasing the efficiency of the radiation method are illustrated by the examples of cleaning water from phenol, acetone, amine and some other pollutants.
