Abstract

In addition to the official viewpoint that volcanogenic deposits in the Tunguska syneclise and Kuznetsk basin are Triassic in age, there is an alternative opinion postulating their Permian age. Analysis of available paleontological and biostratigraphic data confirms the traditional viewpoint, verifies the ages of regional subdivisions, and elucidates, though tentatively to some extent, their correlation with the stages of the Triassic general scale. These data specify the unified part of the regional stratigraphic chart for the Triassic of the Tunguska syneclise and Kuznetsk basin (1978) and are important for solving the disputable stratigraphic problems of volcanogenic rocks in both regions.
