Abstract

The new correlation equations for predicting the initial collection efficiency of aerosols are presented. Based on the Brownian dynamic simulation method of using the parabolic type constricted tube model and taking the deposition mechanisms of inertial impaction, interception, gravitational force and Brownian diffusion into consideration, two new correlation equations are obtained by regressing against a broad range of parameter values governing aerosol collection in granular media. The new correlation equations are able to describe previous experimental results well, especially for the sub-micro-aerosol particles with significant Brownian motion behavior.
