Abstract
A new concept of navigation and guidance system of an on-orbit chaser for autonomous rendezvous approach by using only target image information is proposed. Feasibility studies of a non-cooperative and autonomous target positioning using only target image by a chaser visual sensor as well as an approach guidance scheme are carried out. A new concept named “probing” is defined, in the process of obtaining of the observability for target positioning.By the concept, it is shown that, for the chaser, co-operation design of navigation and guidance systems is requisit to autonomous rendezvous approach by using only target image information.
