Abstract

A new design of an automated shear cell with diamond anvils for X-ray in situ studies has been developed and manufactured. As compared with a previous design, the dimensions and weight of the new cell have been reduced almost by one half on retention of the pressure range up to 100 GPa. To demonstrate the efficiency of the apparatus, the investigations of the possibility to use polycrystalline NaCl as a sensor of pressure at diffraction studies of samples in nonhydrostatic compression conditions have been carried out.
