Abstract
In recent years, a realistic method of calculating the adjusted L 10 life for rolling bearings was developed based on experiences in practice and tests. Besides the evaluation of experiments, it has become possible to simulate in calculations the procedures which have an effect on the life of rolling bearings under load. A calculation method is presented with which the effects of important operating parameters, e.g. loads, bearing temperature, friction, geometry etc., on the life can be assessed. A number of assumptions are required to describe correlations between the parameters, e.g. law of friction, effect of the temperature on the strength etc. Examples have shown that many important effects on the fatigue life of rolling bearings can be reconstructed with this calculation model. The results agree well with test results.
