Abstract
A new 9,11-secosterol, glaciasterol B 3-monoacetate (1a) has been isolated from the Tyrrhenian sponge Fasciospongia cavernosa. the structure of these new compound was solved by analysis of spectroscopic data. Glaciasterol B 3-monoacetate showed potent activity (LC50 = 0.54 μg/ml) in the Artemia salina bioassay.
