Abstract

The elastic scattering associated with the 2 k F instability in the one-dimensional (1- d) conductor K 2Pt(CN) 4Br 0.3 · 3D 2O (KCP) has been studied at the low temperature super lattice point (0.5, 0.5, 3.7) as a function of temperature for different pressures. Within the investigated region between 0 and 11 kbar, we find that the value of 2 k F remains constant at 1.703 c ∗ , although the absolute value of 2 k F changes by 1.5%. At the same time the Peierls gap Δ(0) and the interchain correlation length ξ ⊥ (0) decrease. We conclude that the 1- d character of KCP is enhanced under pressure.
